The Rundown

Two lawyers, two dogs, a case, and a chance to fall in love. Love on Trial was laid out to be a slightly heated romance between two lawyers and ended up being light and sweet romance novel.

Love on Trial started off with both the characters, Malik and Jude, working on opposite sides of the case, and continued to their mother’s in-depth involvement in their relationship. It was only when they happen to run into each other at the park while walking their dogs; Clyde and Suzanne, that they began to slowly see the beauty and the handsome in one another.

Just like in 101 Dalmatians, the dogs of the protagonists fall in love at first sight, which was the cutest addition to the plot. It was enjoyable to read about how Malik and Jude put so much care and love for their own dogs, mainly when their dogs spread that love to try and get their owners together. It’s simply adorable.

Aside from the love, the novel touched up on a few points that fit well with the current times of politics and world issues such as racism and war. Although these points didn’t fill the entire book, it was another great addition to awareness for the reader to keep an open mind and remember to love.

Kudos to P.C. Zick for portraying a set of characters and plot that gave us the sweet and light romance read that’s perfect for Valentines Day season.
